The Journey 1970-1980 |

Working in the theatre was an uneasy experience for Pat, as she yearned to record and tour as a solo artiste again. She then met Fuzzy Samuel, bassist with Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and together they formed a funk-rock fusion band called Axis, in tribute to Jimi Hendrix. They had a son, Kodzo and returned to live in the USA as she was disillusioned with the way the music scene had changed in England. The emerging punk music scene was taking over and there seemed to be no room for the music that she and Fuzzy were creating. Still her distinctive sound can be heard on numerous recordings by such artists as Humble Pie, Nick Drake, Graham Nash, Steven Stills Manassas, Doctor John and blues legend Freddie King, to name a few. Whilst living in LA tragedy struck the family with the death of her daughter Debbie. This sad incident separated Pat from lots of things for many years but she resurfaced in the 1980's working with such people as Peter Gabriel, Justin Haywood and Steve Marriott (again). |
