Ok, I post this to the forum as a question for Pat cos it might be of some interest for our members and PP collectors. But before I need to add a "brief" intro (sorry:o)
Last saturday I woke up early (early for my saturday standards, 9am actually) with some good inspiration to compile my next (mod) radio show.
I am in a total "Five in the Afternoon" moment, so I thought "what can I play from Pat's old discography that is not too much known and at the same time suitable for "my" (mod, beat, soul, funk, acidjazz) listeners?
A spark in my foggy brain made me remember that Pat was included in one of the early compilations by Acid Jazz (the "Totally Wired" series). I bought the most of them at the time so, checking it was on n.5, I was ready to put my hands in my very confused and un-alphabetical vaults to find the record...
While I was shutting down the pc I got the "new email coming" alarm and doh! Had a look at the sender and there she was!
Pat in person!! She made my day (contents of her message are personal, dont ask pls ;o))))
Back to the subject : the song is "Dreaming" and was made by Pressure Point feat. PP Arnold. And much to my aural pleasure the song is g-o-o-d! I didnt remember it at all to be honest. A silky soul/funk with an excellent brass section. Bit like the Brand New Heavies (hope you know them)
Unfortunately it's just a radio edit of 3.41 mins, badly faded during the sax solo. A further investigation on the internet tonite and I found the band did, at least, two 12" with Pat, (The other is "Stay"
Amongst the various remixes of "Dreaming" (or "Dream"?) there is one called "album version" so I guess an album was planned, but cant see traces anywhere.
I also checked in pparnold.com discography but cant see any ref on Pressure Point.
So (at last!) my question for Pat is: can You tell me/us more abt that period (1989-ish) and do you have recording details, who were the musicians playing, and is there an album with them hidden somewhere?
If the rest it's like the (only) song I heard, it's really worth (expecially for us soul/acid jazz fans)!
Here's the pic cover of "Dreaming" 12"
cheers the cap
